Day 1: To Heathrow and beyond
The uber shiny Terminal 5 to be exact, got there ok, Luis cockey as you like on his first major tube journey, and even cockier still on the slick shuttle train that took us to the gate! So the big aeroplane was everything Luis had hoped for, except we had to walk past the 1st class area with the nice reclining seat beds, next time maybe. 9 hrs, Chicken Tikka, The A-Team, The Simpsons, Pocoyo, an arsey air steward telling off Maria, Luis doing laps round coach class and That Mitchell and Webb Look later, and we're in Miami, where it was a balmy 28 degrees. The airport's a bit rough round the edges compared to Terminal 5, but we get our connection nae bother and we're on another plane bound for Salvador. Luis, looking for any opportunity to escape the tedium of sitting with his mami and papi for another 8 hrs, makes friends with a girl behind us and shows her his book, even pointing out the hoolits (owls) to her (what's Brazilian for hoolit?!?!). A late dinner later and we're ready to crash and burn, big time......zzzzzzzzz!
